 S2 or C2 ?
Author: Barry Vincent

At the moment I have on loan a 1955 Howarth Thumb Plate Oboe for a free trial while my own Howarth S55c dual system is being serviced. What's stamped on the upper joint, lower joint and bell is the following:- Howarth C2 Maker London. The bell also has in addition to this British Made.
However, the dealer has it listed as a S2 and when I do a search on this BBoard there is no results for C2. Only S2. A bit of a mystery I think.
Its serial number is 1342. Perhaps Chris could clear this up for me.
