Oboe Cane ... Tone color

I am constantly amazed on how different batches of tube cane produce different oboe tone colors.

Same scrape ... same oboe however different tonal quality with different tubes of cane. Similar to statistics ... there are differences between batches as well as differences within batches; although within group differences are much less and significant.

So keep a couple of different tubes bundles on hand ... if you want a variety of tone color. Or order gouged cane from different sources. You may get a pleasant surprise.
