While cleaning out our very old band room this morning, a friend of mine and I came across two very interesting instruments that weren't even cataloged in the school inventory! They are Pan American oboes in fairly decent condition! The two of us are French horn players and have absolutely no idea how to maintain and clean woodwind instruments! The oboe section at our school is not entirely enthusiastic about two horn players trying to learn their trade, so I thought I could turn to the internet for help. How would one go about cleaning an oboe that hasn't been touched for years? Are their specific pieces I should check to make sure they're in working condition? I could not possibly leave these poor little instruments in their current, pitiful state! They need to be restored and saved!
