I am retired and am about to pick up and play oboe for the first time in about 38 years. I am 71 now and played in elementary and high school and then for one year 15 years later. I played on an open keyed Cabart A Paris in school and an older model Loree in the adult year.
I will eventually get a horn that I like to play and will probably take a chance or two before I find one. I am considering a chinese horn but don't know if they are all alike or different. Do they acutally make them in China? I do not want a stuffy sounding horn and I actually like a somewhat bright sound rather than the coveted so-called 'dark' tone. Does anyone really know anything about the chinese horns?
