I am a collector of old(er) oboes and have the opportunity of a 1920s thumbplate system Loree. Oboes of this era are not something I've ever got involved in before and I am aware that the tuning could be a bit iffy in places - depending on how much it's been played. I'm mainly interested in any comments people have about the quality of these old instruments.
I know Goosens played on a 1907 Loree all of his working life, but the sounds and bores of oboes have changed a lot particularly so in the last 10 to 15 years.
