I am looking at getting my wife a better clarinet. She likes at nice round, darker tone. Which of these two clarinets would be best? Can anyone tell me the difference in performance and sound?
I know about the Recital for a darker tone, but she teaches clarinet to kids so I think the sound must be similar to theirs. I was told the concerto and 10G are very good clarinets, easy to play, and have a nice full sound.
 Thanks, Doug

Well, it's going to sound the way she plays it, and only she can know if she likes the sound.

Although I can't tell from your post, it sounds as if this is intended as a surprise. I'd wave you away from that notion. Perhaps you'd consider a gift certificate--wrapped up in a fresh box of reeds???-- to a good instrumental music dealer. She'll need to play-test before she buys an expensive clarinet.

She needs to pick it out. Besides finding the sound she likes there are differences in the ergonomics of a clarinet. For example, I have very large hands and some clarinets and I just do not get along very well.
