I have the Vandoren reed case that holds 4 soprano reeds on one side and flips on a hinge and holds another 4 reeds on the back side. I really like this case and have a student that wants one for bass cl. I thought I saw one on wwbw once but now I can't find it there. I know a tenor sax reed case would work too but they don't carry that either.

Anyone know where I can find a decent bass cl. reed case for her? She has the blue Vandoren one that the top slides off and it's horrible. Reeds mold, warp and chip so easily. Anyone have a good case that can be recommended? My research has come up empty. Bass players...I need your help.

Thanks, Rebecca

I like the inexpensive reed wallets (with the fake alligator-look vinyl flaps) that are available from Muncy Winds -- I use them for most of my clarinet and sax sizes. They hold eight reeds each.

According to the vandoren site, there is a 6 reeds flip case... but it's for alto clarinet. I didn't find a version for bass clarinet reeds...

I use the Pro Tec reed holder (picture attached). It holds 10 reeds, 5 on each side. I haven't had a problem with warping. I think you can get it many places, including Musician's Friend http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=bo/search/detail/base_pid/541054/
It is labeled for saxophone but I don't have any problem using it for bass and alto clarinet reeds.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice everyone. I'll check out Muncy and Musician's Friend and see what I can come up with.

Michelle, your case looks just like my soprano cl. reed case that I like. Is yours for alto or tenor sax reeds? I wouldn't think a case for alto reeds would work for bass cl. reeds.

I believe it's "one size" alto or tenor sax reeds. My bass clarinet reeds fit nice and snug, the alto clarinet reeds have a little more wiggle room but they don't fall out by any means. The picture I included above was of my bass clarinet reeds.

Bass clarinet reeds are the exact same size as tenor sax reeds. I have used them interchangeably in the past.
