So after a lot of thinking, and a lot of stress and a lot of just plain out honesty from my colleagues and superiors, I've decided that I am going to try out in the 5A Track. I know, if I went 4A my chances of making all state are so high in my favor, but 5A it's no telling.
Have any of you had to go through this experience of deciding what track to go when your superiors tell you, that you can score high?

Yes...if you go 4A you are cheating yourself out of one hell of a competition. The increased level will improve your playin. Remember you are entering this competition to get better not to ensure that you stay at the top. I guarantee you that you will do fine in the 5A track if you work hard./harder than everyone else. Its dumb doing 4A if you think you can do 5. Just a thought.

yeah. my teacher says I would make the 4a band. he says it would be easy for me this year since i am a lot better of a player than last year.

I have two students that are in the same position. They have both made 4A All-State the past two years, and within the top 5 chairs. The question they had to ask themselves was "Why would I want to continue in 4A?" They have already proven that they can compete at that level.
So if you have already made 4A All-State, and have done it quite convincingly, you should absolutely tryout for 5A. Now here's the kicker, if you have never made 4A All-State then I would probably suggest that you strive to make it before attempting 5A. You have that luxury of being able to choose which track you take, while some do not. I hope this helps.

Why do a junior version when you can do a senior one??? The better players you play with, the better you will become.
Do you want to teach or be taught? If you want to improve you will want the latter.
