I think what ever feels comfortable. A friend with an excellant klez sound uses a simple vandoren b45. I use a Johnston w4 on my r13 and selmer series 9 and a Morgan m6 on my c clarinet. The vandoren #3 reed works best for me - sometimes a 3 1/2. Howie Leess uses a crystal mouthpiece that has more or less a standard opening and face - LMS
