Steve,
I heard only the very end of Finjan - arrived at 2:30PM and it took a while to get oriented. Sorry I couldn't make it earlier - played a Bar Mitzvah until midnight Saturday. Finjan are always fun - they are great show-people.
Sons of Sepharad were tremendous - I heard their whole act on Monday. "Get ready to hear more Ashkenaz music - NOT!" Take a good guitarist, an incredible hand drummer, add three world-class voices - I was floored. They sang some standards ("Quando El Rey Nimrod".) What most got to me were the liturgical melodies I had never heard in sephardic versions ("Lechah Dodi"). I was really bummed they don't have a CD, but it will be available at their next concert, October 31 at Temple Beth Emeth in Toronto.
I was at Michael Alpert & David Krakauer's HipHop Khasene on Sunday Night - 11:00PM - 1:15AM. It was a mix of tape, tradition, humor, and a big dose of adrenaline-fired madness.
Regards,
Ralph
