I have a c boem system horn that does have a brighter sound than the bflat. If you can get a hold of a c, try it out. It uses the same mouthpiece as the b flat. You should keep in mind that brandwein sound we are familiar with is in part due to the relatively unsophisticated recording equipment in use at the time. Sound reproduction back then was not accurate, and were Brandwein recording today, his music would likely sound much different.
