To further elaborate, since you have apparently have four melody instruments (are some doubling?), not including piano and trombone, you could write out a line for each note of each chord, following the melody line, for some sections of each tune, as desired. The trombone can wail along like in traditional jazz, underneath everything, ignoring the actual melody, while the violin or clarinet plays similarly over everything, leaving the trumpet, flute, and violin or clarinet to carry the actual melody with note for note harmonies within the chords.
Just some ideas.
