Would the tonal quality and structure of a Bass Clarinet rule out it's being used to play Klezmer music. I guess what I am asking is whether Klezmer is more or less "restricted" to those fast fingered youngsters who never heard of arthritis or play anything below the third register.

Steve, could you recommend some CD's and where I might buy them--I live in rural Iowa, about three hours from Nate (Bet you didn't know Iowa was that wide) :-}

From Tara Publications (www.jewishmusic.com) order The Magic of the Klezmer, To You (I think that's what it's called), and my favorite, Clarinettango.
Ari Davidow's Klezmer Shack (don't know the url) may also have these. I mention this because he's posted here.
