Hi klezmer lovers.
There is a huge collection of klezmer and related scores available to view at the U.S library of congress. This includes many original printed and handwritten scores by Abe Schwartz, Frankel, Kammen, Hochman, Kandel, Kostakowsky etc. All the greats of early 20th century American 78's.
Some are songs , but many are the original instrumental scores.
I think the collection is there because artists were registering the copyright at the library. Anyone know more about this?
Obviously, the tunes are written for C instruments but most of the repertoire heavily features clarinet, so get transposing!

search for 'yiddish music' as this was before the term 'klezmer' was coined
cheers
