I have used tools like Finale to write parts, and it has been very nice to be able to play out the voices alone or in different combinations, especially if you can assign a different voice to each part. An oboe may not really sound like an oboe, but it is still helpful to hear an approximation of the final product.

There are issues with quarter tones that I am not prepared to address. Barring that, the software won't care about the musical style.

A nearby university with a music school will have a lab with music notation software, and technicians are always ready to show off their toys.
