Ok, classical clarinetists have their favorites and so do jazz players. Now my Klezmer friends, what's your pleasure? Do you prefer a jazz type mouthpiece for the bends and high notes? I have a friend (Zinovy Goro) who uses Vandoren 360---but, alas, they're out of production. I have an older model Kaspar that works great. Give me some of your favorites with pros and cons.

I'm not a Klezmer player, but you should probably post this message on the Klezmorium Forum if you haven't already. It will probably get a few replies there

Anything with a wide lay and relatively short face. I used a Selmer C85 120 for years which has a great range of tone and bends pretty well too.

I actually use a C.W.Fobes classical mouthpiece (CF model I think). Very classical/Germanic/European in design. (They're in the sponsors section).
It provides a very 'focussed' (if that's how you spell it) sound that I seem to hear a lot when I listen to klezmer players. With a reed that's not excrutiatingly hard I can still do all the glissing etc that I want.
They're worth checking out.
cheers
Seamus

I think what ever feels comfortable. A friend with an excellant klez sound uses a simple vandoren b45. I use a Johnston w4 on my r13 and selmer series 9 and a Morgan m6 on my c clarinet. The vandoren #3 reed works best for me - sometimes a 3 1/2. Howie Leess uses a crystal mouthpiece that has more or less a standard opening and face - LMS
