I know what you mean. I play alto and tenor sax sometimes, and after a longer pause there's always the problem with the lowest notes. That's certainly also part of the problem with my tarogato. I guess that the small mouthpiece makes me automatically assume a clarinet embouchure.

But there might be a more particular problem with the low E, which appears to be more prone than other notes to break up an octave. I am not sure, but it could be that the upper C pad is not always sealing properly. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
