Hi:
I bought a flageolet in F. Where can I get the fingering chart for it?

Can you tell us about the flageolet? How many holes are there on the front? How many holes on the back? Are there any keys? Where are they?

Normal flageolets have the same finger holes as a tin whistle, with six holes on the front, none on the back. They are fingered the same as the tin whistle. Some flageolets have extra keys which provide semitones. There can be as many as six keys. I don't think you'll find any fingering charts anywhere on the web which give the details of the keys, but the Tin Whistle fingering chart should work, although it is in D. You'll have to shift every note up three semitones to use it on your F Flageolet.

I have the same problem. Have you found a chart yet. I play the whistle and the simple and Bohem system flute it would seem that the lower notes are similar to the flutes and whistles but once you use the first and second finger on the left hand the notes are out hence the need for a chart.

I dont know much about flageolets, but what I do know suggests that yes, they tend to use the same fingering as a tin whistle. However, assuming this is a standard flageolet with 4 holes front and 2 holes back it can be confusing.
1 - Top thumb hole
2-3 - top finger holes for left hand
4 - top finger hole for right hand
5 - second thumb hole
6 - bottom hole for right hand
Hope that helps, happy flageolet'ing (or something like that) :)

For a description of the three kinds of flageolets try the entry for flageolet on the BBC’s h2g2 site :

No fingering however, but where the holes are placed. Look up tuner_e on google and use the program there for a tuner and try fingerings yourself!
