I've been playing flute for 3 years now and I've been told I should start looking for a new flute. Right now I play an Olds Ambassador closed hole, but my instructor recommended getting an open hole. Does anyone have any suggestions (know of a good flute maker, website, whatever) ?
Thanks
also I play piccolo but don't have my own yet. . any helpful suggestions for that would be good too!!

I don't know a lot about flutes. I only played one for two weeks many years ago, but I do know of a few people who seem rather knowledgable.
check this thread (and perhaps the rest of the forum):

Play multiple flutes. Try as many as you can find of good, quality brands like Yamaha and Gemeinhardt. You need to find a flute that works well for you and has a good reputation. It helps if they are well known, it makes it easier to get them repaired then.
