this may not be the place to ask this, but I'm hoping some of you will be able to give me some ideas. I have TONS of music for different events/groups (church band, jazz band, concert band, saxophone lessons, pit band, etc) My room is covered in this music...does anybody have any suggestions on a good way to organize it? Thanks!

sounds like my room. one way you can organize the music is to get folders and label them for each different band. and sort you music there. and for any you don't play anymore set aside and place them in a pile, and decide if you want to keep, toss, or give away to a friend. hope this helps.

I had that problem too. i had sax music mixed with the trumpet, and then there was that whole big mess with the flute, oboe, and who knows what else?!
i went to the store, bought a different color binder for every instrument, and a ton of those clear page protectors. i put the newest ones in the back. also, the pages can't get wrinkled. i also printed out the fingering guides from this site, punched holes in them, and stuck them in. i can find anything i need in a matter of seconds.
you could probably even keep them all in a big 6" binder if you get dividers, but i think that's too heavy. good luck!

well, sounds like how my room *used* to be.
we bought these different crates, got folders, and started sorting my stuff. i have folders for last year in band, the year before, and then just for stuff i either bought or printed off or something, and then folders for each genre; classical, just stuff for practice, fingerings, warm-ups, etc. and then for the instrument and orchestra books and scores i have, i just lined them up in the crate type thingies. heh, i was so proud of myself for getting everything organized!!! -that is, until i started playing clarinet as well as oboe and now i have more stuff, and some stuff just lying on tables. speaking of which, that's a way that i organize certain music. good luck! nothing stays perfect for long!

I got one of those tubs that have folders that fit inside w/ tabs on top and you put the music in side ways....it really has kept my music very nest and tidy!
