I need help on the C3 (for flute)

I've been playing the flute for a year now and can play most notes fairly well. All other notes (from C1 to C4) are decent. They aren't airy and I can support them fairly well. However, the 3rd octave C gets me everytime. It always comes out airy and is sometimes hard to support. I have tried holding the notes out and this does not work. I can play it fine staccato, but holding it out is hard. I would be grateful for any help. Plus, my C-D trill key does not work well for the C2-D2 and C3-D3 trills. The D sounds flat and VERY airy. I tried the other trill key and had the same result. Should I take my flute in the get repaired? The tuning rod shows that the cork is in the right position in the headjoint, and it seems like the keys seal well. I'm not sure of what the problem is. Any ideas? Also, could this problem with the trill keys have something to do with my 3rd octave C? This is starting to get really annoying, and any advice at all would be helpful for me. Thanks. Nick

Well, I would definately take it in to a good repairman cause those trill keys are hard to break unless it was dropped or thrown. There isn't much explanation why the C isn't comming out. The problem may lie in the FLute. My best advice is to try it again after having a repair man look at it, and next take it to a local Flute instructor just for a look at your embechoure, if that doesn't work, then try it on another flute. go to a local instrument shop and say that you are looking to buy a flute and see if it works there, it should. If it does, then you need a new instrument and soemthing is terribly wrong with the one you have. Thank the person for letting you try the Flute and say that you will consider this one but you have others you would like to see at other stores first. and get another one. But if you can't then you will have to just work with it till you can.

you should try to rool the flute in and then out and then try to use and alternate fingering!
