I was just wondeering if anybody could help me.I have been playing flute for three years now in the middle school band .I was wondering if anybody could tell me what the numbers under the notes mean.

Are you sure you aren't looking at a Piano Score? Because The numbers under a note for the Piano score is what finger is suggested to use. But I have never seen that for a Flute piece? :/

do you mean, like when it will show 3 8th notes tied together and a 3 underneath, and/or 16th notes with a 6 underneath (??) which would mean that that amount equals 1 quarter note.

It is a tuplet, meaning whatever number is under the notes is how many notes you play in that space. So if you had three 8th notes with a "3" under them, you would play 3 eights notes in the time of one quarter note. If you had a number 6, or 5, or 7, or whatever, you would play that many notes for the specified beat.

This is kind of off-topic... but in some music there is randomly, in small letters, things such as "A2" or "A6" written under some notes, usually after playing after rests. What does that mean?
