I'm buying an intermediate flute for my daughter. She has been playing for over 3 years. I really am looking for information where I can buy a great flute. I know who make great cars and tools - Don't have a clue who makes great instruments.

I haven't played a Yamaha flute before but I have heard lots of good things about them. I have a Gemeinhardt and love it. Either of those brands would be good. Your daughter really should play a bunch of different ones and find one that works well for her.

If you are buying an intermediate flute, you should buy a flute with silver head joint, prefereable with a B-foot joint. I also recommend an off-set G Key that reduces the strain to the left ring finger in playing. Yamaha is a good choice of reasonable price.
Happy New Year.
