Hi all,
In looking at the fingering charts for B-flat clarinet (Boehm) it appears that a trill between low E an F-sharp (sounding D3 and E3) is possible, since there are three fingerings for each note. Is it?
If you can't trill between those two pitches, how fast could you alternate between them, and for how long (for example, 16th notes at mm 120 for 8 counts...or something)?
I'm writing for clarinet and I'd like to have a trill, but I'm not married to it - if it has to be even a slow alternation I'd be happy.

This would technically be a tremolo rather than a trill, because there's more than 2 semitones in the interval between E and F#.
You can do a tremolo between any two notes if they are in the same register and there is only one finger different between the fingerings for the two notes. I don't think any of the standard fingerings for E are different from the standard fingerings for F# by only one finger.
