 which flute?

Hello,
iīve been playing flute for 7 years now and Iīm looking for a new flute. My old one is a yamaha 311s. I donīt have much money, so it shouldnīt be too expensive (not more than 1500$). Does anybody have experiences with "pearl 765 re (quantz)" and "jupiter 1011(di medici)"? Or do you know any solid silver flute with the same price and maybe even a better sound or quality?

I have a yamaha 371 which is about the same construction as your 311s except that 371 is an open hole model. (Correct me if I am wrong.)When consider upgrading some months ago, I tried several models in the music store and find that the yamaha 461 is pretty good. It has solid silver head joint, body and foot. The sound is much warmer especially in the lower register than my 371. Though I did not buy it eventually. I bought a yamaha 574 last month and I am quite happy with it.

You may try other different models and brands in your local music stores. It's only you can tell which flute suites you most.

I have no experience with the Pearl Flute which I know is american made. While the Jupiter is Taiwanese made and I prefer the Japanese made Yamaha. It is just my personal choice of brands. Some people said that Jupiter flutes are great.

Good Luck !

In order to pick the best flute the most important thing is that YOU TRY THEM. I tryed the pearl and personally did not like them. the lower register was bad and it wasnt made very well. I have a yamaha 600 something or another now and i really like that.

I have been playing a pearl 661 for the past three years, and have been quite happy with it. They play very well for the money, but do not have a very good dynamic range. I recently upgraded mine to a semi-pro flute, but I still think pearl is a very good brand. However, they are very different and I've noticed that people either love them or hate them, so you will have to try one for yourself before you make a good decicion.

My daughter loves her Sonare BEF 7000. It has the Powell Signature headjoint and a silver body (Taiwan) with white gold springs and pointed arms. The 6000 models have a silver body (Chinese) and the Y arms. It runs ~ $1400 -$1500 on the 'net.
