So, I have to play the last portion of the fourth mvt of Grantham's Southern Harmony for an audition for an honor band. It's mm= 160 for the dotted quarter note and in 6/8 time. Pretty fast. During the ending sequence, for one bar, it alternates from high Eb (above them staff) to high Db, starting on the Eb. I looked at the trills, but they all sound pretty bad, and its coming from diatonic eighth notes up the scale, so going to a strange trill fingering (which doesnt sound good to begin with) is awkward. Are there any keys I can leave down, or any tricks to help this sequence run smoother? thanks for any help.

that's a nasty nasty interval. the only alternate fingering I can suggest is to use two sharp alternate fingerings for both Db and Eb, and lip down.
For the Db: -23/1--
For the Eb: -23G#/---
This is easy to finger, but the tone isn't especially great and neither is the focus of pitch. Your only other option is to play with regular fingerings.

I didn't try your suggestions, sorry, because I asked my teacher and he said that playing the high Db fingering, adding the G# and moving the right index finger works, and it does! I just have to blow really fast air, it's very ahrd to do it softly but luckily for me, the passage is forte. But thanks for the suggestions!
