Hi, in light of current circumstances i will be buying an A clarinet. I was wondering whether it uses the same mouthpiece/reeds as a Bb clarinet, and if not, where can i buy them? thanks.

i beleive the mouthpiece and reeds are the same. not 100% sure. i've never seen a reed box say A clarinet, just Bb.

The mouthpiece and reed are the same. Most orchestra clarinet players have two clarinets on stage but only one mouthpiece and reed. They swap the mouthpiece over when they need to change clarinet. This means they don't have to warm up a new reed.

So is the only difference between an A clarinet and a Bb the extra length? does the bore diameter change at all?

The difference is in both. the is a length difference and a bore difference as well. but usually the A clarinet has a slightly larger bore.

The bore is exactly the same at the point the mouthpiece attaches, but it could easily widen out to a wider bore. Although the clarinet is called a cylindrical bore, it is not exactly the same width all the way down, just roughly the same.
