 Is it bad to.....?

I play three instruments but I have taken an interest in another two because of their beautiful sound. I was wondering whether it would be o.k. if I started to learn these two instrumentys at the same time or start one just before the other? Please post if you have started two (or more) instruments at the same time and tell me what happened. Thank you very much.

I think you first need to consider your musical objectives, and if you have the time to devote to each instrument. It also depends on the similarities of the instruments, and the types of music being played. It may help strengthen your primary instrument, or slow progress. In short, it may be good or not so good depending on a mix of factors. Now to answer your specific question. I ended up liking one instrument a lot more than the other, but I still felt compelled to practice the other since I'd started/purchased it. This reduced my enjoyment of both instruments. But, if you have the time to devote to practicing, why not give it a try. I started seven new instruments last year (shakuhachi, baroque flute, crumhorn, shuttle pipes, Irish flute, whistle, and Uilleann pipes), and continued to play Boehm flute, and Anglo concetina.
