You people are smart. So what note would you start on if you were writing a B flat melodic scale, from tonic to tonic? Would you start on B flat or the first note of whatever its relative scale first note is?

All depends in what key your writing in. If your key is C, you's start and end on Bb. if the key is Bb, you's start on C. if your key is Eb, you's start on G. hope this helps.

I'm not sure I understand either one of your posts. If you're writing a Bflat minor melodic scale, you would start on Bflat and go up C, Dflat, Eflat F G A Bflat, then back down Bflat, Aflat, Gflat, F Eflat, Dflat, C, Bflat. If you were writing the melodic scale of the relative minor of Bflat, you'd start on G and go up to G. Again, I'm not sure if I understand you, but I hope I helped.

sorry, i'll make it clearer. for a melodic scale, you must raise the 6th and 7th note a semi-tone or half step ascending and lower the two note to thier original spot descending.

Ok, you would start on the note that corresponds to your instrament, like if you are a Bb instrament then you start on C for Bb melodic, and so on. Just like regular scales, just raise the notes going up and lower on the way down.
