I just started playing alto flute in a flute choir, but can't find any scales transposed for this flute. I know it is a G instrument and the fingering is the same, but how do I know what notes to play?

The Alto Flute is a Perfect or Deminished 5th (not sure which, its been a long time since I have done intervals. But I know it works) below the C Flute. So you would play the Bb Major Scale on flute that would transpose to Eb Major. Start on Eb for the Alto Flute and play the key signature of the Eb scale as well. so
C Flute: Bb Concert (Bb Major)
Bb C D Eb F G A Bb
Alto Flute: Bb Concert (Eb Major)
Eb F G Ab Bb C D Eb

Actually, the alto flute is a MAJOR FOURTH below the regular C flute. If you have to do a lot of transposing, it might be worthwhile to invest in a music notation program such as Finale, or equivalent, which can do it in one click. However if not, here are some examples:
Concert A--> alto's D
B-->E
C-->F
D-->G
E-->A
F-->Bb
G-->C
d-oboe

just play the same scales as you would on a normal flute the fingering will be the same
what flute choir do go to ne way

well it's in "G" as they say, being pitched in the G below middle C. If you count from G to C, it is a fourth.

by music theory books then i'm doing my grade 6 theory it's really hard and there isn't that much difference between alto bass normal flute and piccalos the bass normal flute and piccalo are all in c while an alto is in g all it meanss is the music is transposed so it'll sound right it's just like a clarinet being in b flatv and an alto sax being in e flat
