That day while cleaning up the drawer at school i managed to find a box of old rico tenor sax(1) reeds. Since it was a bit boring after a long day of marching practise sessions, i made my bass clarinet colleague play on one of those....we compared it with the conventional bass clarinet reeds...they seem to look the same in terms on size and thickness....then come the playing...WOW....
he said that he had never played so much better....and that now he could reach the upper register easily even with the help of only the half hole...well....
does that sound logical at all?

I'm tempted to say WOW cool, a new discovery...but:
what my guess would be is that since it was a new reed he was playing on, the response was probably better than that of his already played on bass reed. Were the reeds of the same strength? Harder reeds make it easier to play in higher registers, so...

This is not that unusual. The reeds are practically the same. You can swap them, but it's better to stay with the real deal.
I accidentally swapped my soprano sax and clarinet reeds. Shorter, but same diameter. Clarinet really sailed with the sax reeds.
Some people like to switch off reeds. Whatever works for you.

Dude, ive heard you can switch tenor and bass clarinet reeds. I've never tried it though. You do think bass clarinet reeds would work better on a tenor?

I play the bass and i play on tenor reeds the difference is awesome and it retains this through the life of the reed (unless of course it cracked or missing chunks). Tenor sax reeds help me hit the high range better.
P.S. I have yet to try Bass reeds on a tenor but hope to soon
