Does anyone know of a good piccolo that I should buy? I would be using it for marching band and concert band. I really not sure on what to buy.

then you should get a marching/concert piccolo. That's what I am getting. The one I am getting is the Yamaha YPC-32. For a m/c piccolo it has a silver head joint and a plastic sometimes wood(if you want to pay alot)black body, so its a silver and black piccolo.

i play a marching/concert band piccolo for marching band that's a Yamaha. It has a silver head joint and a plastic body. It works really well for both kinds of bands. I believe it's the very model that Heather mentioned.

I've played that model before, twice actually. The first time I loved it, it was great. The second time i didnt as much. I still think its pretty good though. I ended up buying an Emerson, which I love. Gem. (spelling...) is also a good one, I liked that brand, with the plastic body and solid silver head.

whatever you do, DO NOT get a wooden body especially if you're going to march. that's spending too much money on something that would get ruined very easily in the conditions that it would face in marching season. yes it has a gorgeous tone for concerts, but not for marching. the silver head joint/plastic body works wonderfully and it gives you a nice loud sound for the field.

I personally can't stand playing piccolos with a metal head, but I onlt played them for concert band, too.

If you're just playing for marching band, you want metal and plastic. No wood. If you can, though, I'd suggest finding an all-plastic one. Would not be a bad investment.

For marching band one year I DID play piccolo, and it was great. I played a silver headed black plastic piccolo. Was great for marching band purposes. Loud and shrill, and indestructible.
