 Half steps on recorder
Author: Jan

Hi there, I found my recorder back, and at times it can be funny to play with it (playing songs like Baker Street, Afro Blue, Work Song, Mission Impossible). I'm a saxophonist, but I have this question:

is it me or the recorder that makes that the half steps (F#, Bb, C# etc etc) have got a bad intonation (compared to clarinet and sax)..?

It's you. If you finger them correctly, the half-steps on a recorder are very accurately pitched. Of course there are some cheap recorders around that don't play well.

Good, I can live with a combination of both ;)
