what is the technique a clarinetist should know??
such as tonguing ,double tonguing...............
who ever heard the glissando on clarinet in RHAPSODY IN BLUE??
it is amazing!!!!!!!!

yes until now i am still not able to do it despite the fact that there is no one here capable of teaching me the technic. there is a lot of information in this forum if you take the time to search for it, or you might take a drop by the clarinet board at http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard

It is possible to learn double tonguing and flutter tonguing on the clarinet, but they are really not used much. It is much more important to be able to (single)tongue really fast. Tonguing, tone production and finger dexterity are the three most important techniques on the clarinet.

Clarinets cannot double tongue. We have too much resistance- the reed. You normally find that only brass players and floutists double tongue; they lack the resistance. As far as technique, tonguing is a given. You may also want to consider ornamentation such as the glissando, the turn, and trill.
