Megan,

The clarinet is a difficult instrument to learn without a teacher. It is not just a case of blowing into it. The exact way to hold your mouth to produce a good tone is something hard to explain. A personal teacher is the best way of learning this.

If you can't get a teacher, buy a good book. The one I learned from at the start is "Take Up The Clarinet" by Graham Lyons, published by Chester Music. It comes in two books. Book 1 is ISBN 0.7119.1940.2

The best source of information about clarinets on the Web is www.sneezy.org. This is not designed for complete beginners.
