MALAYSIAN!
I AM ALSO MALAYSIAN!
haha
seems to be such a fuzz
when its difficult for us malaysians to actually meet some
enthusiastic student musicians....
can i get some of ur info to contact u?
i am an oboist from Sabah!

anyway......you were mentioning vibrato
there are a few ways to execute vibrato
but before you start practising the way to do it,
make sure you already have a steady tone in all registers
(no natural vibrato or excess windy sound),
the first method is to move ur lips in an up and down motion, but this method is not advisable, as it corrupts your embouchure as well as effect your natural timbre and tone colour.
the seconbd method, which prefered by all (including me, as an oboist and clarinetist) is to use your throat and stomach (air support) to vibrate the sound. kinda like executing pulses of tones in one single long tone or perhaps a short semiquaver. to do this you pick a syllable say 'hah' and try to 'say' it when you are playing. try playing a long tone say concert Bb and starting with a toungued note add a pulse in a steady way with equal durations or intervals in between. then in a few weeks time (remember you must not forget about your usual basics on a steady tone as too much vibrato your tone.)start to minimize the durations or intervals slowly, and by time you are doing it good, you will be able to do it good.

personnaly i think it is more appropriate to have a tutor guide you through the process so you don't do anything wrong. and 2 more things to consider, remeber to use your stomach to add the pressure to the pulse and air support is deifnitely the key to all success in playing wind instruments. and the other thing is that vibrato only adds color to yout tone only when necessary, so don't overdo it.
a little bit on solos or solis will be fine, but that really depends.

corrections: sorry!
too much vibrato will spoil your tone if it becomes a bad habit when not executed properly!
by the time you are doing it good, you WILL know you are doing it good.
sorry for the spelling mistakes and all
kinda busy at that time...
any comments or suggestions ppl?
