To anyone in America, I've heard that you have to learn three types of minor scales; harmonic, melodic and natural. Starting on C could you please write out the scale, as we don't use it out here!! I'm just really curious......

Minor scales are used throughout classical music.

Any way here goes:

Cmajor: C D E F G A B C
Cminor(natural: C D Eb F G Ab Bb C
Cminor(harmonic): C D Eb F G Ab B C
Cminor melodic):
C D Eb F G A B C when going up the scale
C Bb Ab G F Eb D C when going down the scale.

Minors are related to the majors. Usually one will learn the minor that is associated to the major. For example, Aminor is the one related to the key of C major. Aminor will use the same key signature as C major. Here is how they look.

C major: C D E F G A B C
A minor (natural): A B C D E F G A
A minor (harmonic): A B C D E F G# A
A minor (melodic):
A B C D E F# G# A going up the scale
A G F E D C B A going down the scale.

To find reletive minors you start on the sixth note of the major scale. C major, A minor. The harmonic minors you raise the seventh note a semi tone. and for a melodic you raise the sixth and seventh note a semitone for ascending and lower then to there original position descending. hope this helps.

I was wondering...what exactly do you use? (instead of the 3 minors) I didn't think music was something that changed from country to country...it's "borderless", as I always say...
