not an alto player.....
but its possible,i've heard my band tutor (saxophone genius despite his age)played before and he struck a just right above that f# so i know its possible, to do that there should be an appropriate fingering for it and it requires a special embouchure to do so, not to mention a good mouthpiece.

I presume you are talking about the Saxophone. Notes above high F# (or high F if you haven't got a high F# key) are called altissimo notes. There are loads of different fingerings for them and you can not only play high G, but G#, A, Bb, B, C, C# and so on all the way up to the next C if you are good enough. For all of them, you need a different embouchure, as well as the fingerings. You can see all the fingerings here under "Altissimo".

Also, if you want altissimo charts that include pictures, check out Eric Cilli's site.

Yes there is a way to play it but not with the L keys. I know cuz i can play it and my section leader get mad everytime i play it cuz she can. But any ways i know of a fingering that works for me and several other sax players in my band. It is:

AL1-2--|1-r3----

AL1Refers to the alternate high f key in the front.
r3Refers to the alternate right hand Bb key.

Hope this helps. Also tighten your embouchre pretty tight but not to tight.

Although I am currently an oboe player, I did play sax for a number of years. It is commonly known that altissimo G, although it is certainly not the highest note you can hit, it is usually quite hard to get right off the bat. Start with the Bb or the C above it, and work your way down chromatically. Most of the fingerings listed on this site work quite well for that.
