Soft reed on a very open mouthpiece. However this is hard to control and the sound can be very spread and/or harsh if one is not careful.

There's a limit on what you can do. You'll never be able to outblow the brass or saxes. They have to learn to control their volume so as not to bury the other instruments like the clarinet.

if you are asking for volume what conditions are you playing in?
marching? if you are trying to stand out in a marching band is either when there are tons of clarinet players or when you are going to play a solo in a marching formation.....
or just go play saxaphone instead....

concert? you would be asking for a concert hall type ligature which will surely help you produce any sort of sound easier and clearer, not to mention more articulation possibilities. there are a lot of mouthpieces out there which will help in incrasing volume.

*or you might be having a problem in your air control and breathing.......

it's for marching, we have a small group(about 50) and we have to play loud and i can already outblow the other clarinetists, but thats not enough for the etire group together.

do not overblow.its not quite possible to overblow the clarinet but if you can do so you should be sucking in intonation and tone. so the most important factor is to have all the clarinetist work together to practise dynamics and have the same articulation to achive loudness.
one band, one sound (copied this from drumline.....)

if u blow so hard dont struggle and get urself a vandoren #3 reed+ a long facing mouthpiece with a 100mm+tip.
u will reach a nice piercing sound that will blend in with a band better than overblowing

i've been playing clarinet 4 about 2 years and i've noticed that if u kind of lossen your jaw a little then u can blow a bit stronger and get a louder tone without over doing it but it does vary between clarinets and sometimes (if your horn goes flat alot) then a heavy read will healp because u have to blow a bit harder to use it.

works 4 me
