 improvising

I am an 11th grader and i have been improvising for a year now. I feel like i am pretty capable of hanging with most older sax players. I play in a soulfull old school band who especially digs tower of power. Lately i noticed that my solo's are not as taste ful as i want them to be because i can't decide what's best. to think ahead of time, or just play? I can't decide.

Think ahead. Charlie "Bird" Parker planned his solos out in his head sometimes twenty measures ahead of where he was in the music.

benny.
i own and have been studying with "Jamey Abersald" and have learned all about the dorian and dominant 7th. In fact i'm known for growling on a note flat from the scale. such as if the song is in g, i would growl on bflat.

WELL I AM TIRED OF MELODY IMPROVISING BECAUSE IT'S JUST TO LIMITED TO WHAT YOU CAN DO. i WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT RUNNING 8TH'S AND MABEY I CAN HAVE A JAZZY STYLE ON SOME OCCASIONS.
