How do I transpose B flat clarinet music for e flat contra alto clarinet?

Let's see...I believe you take it down an octave plus a fifth.

So an open g would be what on the e flat contra alto clarinet? Sorry, I'm just a student.

I play the contra-alto clarinet and bass clarinet for my HS band and usually if there is no part for the contra, I will transpose from my bass part. Say your bass note is C....your contra would be G. You can either shift the C up 5 notes (counting the starting note), or shift it down 4 notes. Then for the key signature....say the bass is in the key of C (no flats), you do the same thing as you did with transposing the notes. Shift it up 5 or down 4, and you would get the key of G (1 sharp). Nothing to it
