this is 3 ppl doing this * i short hand things*_ it is a break from all those essays* grrr
hey u guys,
does n-e body have band directors that just don't listen to them ... lets put it short n' sweet are marching band suxs and are band music are boring ... my friends and I have a bnu club ( band nerds united) (i know i am such a band geek but hey , i love music!!!!!!!)and we have good ideas that are non-profit

marching band- stuff that needs to improve
.music that we play ( ppl fall asleep listening to that)
.are drills(going side to side is not marching)
.GE( general effect)
.dance moves( this is not the hokey pokey ya know )

what we did
. we made are own drill
-other band directors said they liked it and we (it tooks us 5months)(i asked 6 band directors)
. we also made are own GE moves and everything

band - what needs to improve
.clubs
.music( i organize the whole music libray ... i know all their serect music that they never tells us about )
.instruments ( we have enough money )

what we did
.clubs- we have are marching band and are winter drumline , and back-up band ,
. all those u have to be in band or have experince
> soo we need something that some ppl who cant be in band still have a musical hobbie or something like that
> or have a tutoring session for ppl who can't have private lessons
(BAND)
SHOULD WE HAVE THE BAND DIRECTOR'S APPROVAL OR SHOULD WE JUST START THIS ON ARE OWN?

in my school alot of ppl support this idea students ,parnets, and even my old band director but he won't listen even thohe doesn't have to particapate he doesn't have to worry about anything . bcuz it is gonna be student run ... all we would
MARCHING BAND

SHOULD THE BAND DIRECTOR AT LEAST LISTEN TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY?

I AM NOT SAYING THAT WHAT EVER IDEAS WE HAVE WE SHOULD MAKE THEM FINAL -HE SHOULD JUST LISTEN TO WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY-
AND AGAIN STUDENTS ETC THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA I MEAN MB IS SUP TO B FUN AND I KNOW THAT THE MARCHING BAND AT MY SCHOOL CAN DO MORE THAN JUST GO BACK N' FORTH

I AM TIRED SOO HAVE A NICE DAY

I think your band director should listen or at least give an explaination why he doesn't like it. I'm impressed what you BNU did and those ideas are great, thats what MBs are supposed to be. :)

I don't know how MBs in the US are managed and you sounded like your band director manages EVERYTHING. My former high school band here in Malaysia is a bit different, our band director just manages concert practices and its up to us members to design drills and organize stuff(sometimes we need the school's approval first) by themselves. So 95% of band politics and stuff like that are ran by a group of committees(president, v. president, treasurer, secretary, section leaders, music master, drill master..etc) and most of the decisions are made by them, not the band director or the band teachers.

Not to brag about my former band's uber organizing skills but I was wondering if your band are also ran like this? I don't think you should start all this without your band director's approval since he seems to be in charge of everything. You would want to try talking to him again and demand an explaination why he didn't like it. Also you could try starting a petition and get signatures. Good luck! :)

I laughed when I read 'Band Nerds United', because my friend Kristin and I have a 'JBGU' club (Jazz Band Geeks United). It's a very exclusive club...only freshman girls who are in Jazz Band are allowed to join (pretty much me and Kristin) LOL. :)
