I teach Bb clarinet lessons and was requested to teach bass clarinet. I'm wondering how similar the fingering is between the two.

The basic fingerings are the same but you should pick up a beginning band method for bass clarinet for the fingering chart before taking on new students.

One of my books lists different fingerings for very high notes on the bass clarinet. While the basic fingering is the same, the high notes might not sound in tune and benefit from these fingerings. It's definitely worth getting a chart if you can.

that the fingerings are the exact same except
that there is an extra key below and that, in addition
to all of the keys, is the fingering for low Eb.

fingerings are the same in low register (except if you play low C bass clarinet)
high notes (D upward) are played with "half hole" left finger I
many fingerings are available and are instrument dépendant so you can experiment (see Henry BOCK book H. Lemoine editor and J.M. VOLTA bass clarinet method)
a difficult thing is to get a relax embouchure and "low" respiration to play upper register
