Tenor Sax is a Bb instrument. Alto Sax is an Eb instrument. The alto sax plays everything a fourth (five semitones) higher. So what is called a C on the alto sax is called an F on a Tenor Sax. If you have some music written for tenor sax and piano accompaniment, and you want to play it on alto sax with the same accompaniment, you need to rewrite the sax part with all the notes moved down by a fourth (five semitones).

C --> G
D --> A
E --> B
F --> C
G --> D
A --> E
B --> F#

You may find in doing this that part of the music is now too low to play on the alto, so you will have to play it an octave higher. Decide which bits should be moved up an octave.
