 oboe and baritone
Author: Jennifer

I am a student at a highschool and I am being required to pick up two new instruments, I play the flute and sax but I am teaching myself how to play the oboe and the baritone.
I need fingering charts or tips/advice for the oboe and for the baritone.
I would appreciate it if someone could help.

for the OBoe i recomend that you get a profesional oboe layer to show you because otherwise you will pick up bad habits the finguring gide in the Ruback book was very healpfull to me, you should try this, they are very good book

If you have trouble reading the charts at this site, try a book called The Oboe Student, published by Belwin. It's more pictoral. Also I have found it to be the most organized, best thought out beginners book I have taught from. It starts you out in the best range for the oboe and then quickly leans toward learning to play in the keys you need to play in for band (flats) before going to sharp keys. There are three levels of difficulty, and a couple of other than basic books at each level. The third level has a complete fingering chart and trills chart.

I would say that to learn oboe and play well, baritone would not be a good instrument to also play. I play oboe and it requires a lot of embouchre and reed attention. Considering the baritone has a much larger mouthpiece and is a brass instrument, it would be very hard to be good at both.
