 practising tones on an oboe
Author: sÖmeone

i'll make it simple
most people will tell me to listen to more good recordings
so eventually by changing the embouchure to the style i like in the recordings will most probaly make my tone good inspite that most players who do recordings have good tones?
so how do actually practise that?
is the method theorically correct?

Well, listening to recordings will help you to formulate the concept of what is a good tone in your mind, but I don't really see how you can just change your emboucure around in an effort to sound like the people on them. Remember that emboucure is just one factor determining how rich and resonant your tone will (or will not) be. Air support and your reed are just as important to good tone as emboucure. You should work on all of the above.

Now speaking of recordings, one thing you might want to consider is recording yourself as your practice. Then you can go back and listen closely to see how you're developing as a player. Often critiqueing yourself in this fashion allows you to identify subtle nuances in your playing that need work.

By the way, what kind of reeds are you playing on? What does the scrape look like? I'm curious how reeds are made in Malaysia.
