I've been playing the alto sax for 3 years now but I decided that I wanted to try out the soprano since I don't know many people who play it. I was wondering if the fingering charts shown everywhere are applicable to all kinds of saxophones. Since there are different buttons on the soprano it's a little bit confusing when someone tells me. I did try a few scales however and they sound the same, just higher. So if anyone can help me out it would be great. Hope everyone understands my questions. Feel free to ask you if you don't.

The fingering on the soprano saxophone is the same as the fingering on the alto saxophone. The only difference is that the notes come out higher up. But the publishers of music compensate for this by writing the music in a different key. This is called transposing. If you take some music printed for soprano sax and you see a middle C, you play the same fingering exactly as you would on an Alto Sax.

I have a lot of books from last year that were created for the alto sax (I'm actually in gr.11). This means that I can use it even for the soprano? Thanks a lot for responding!

If it is music for solo sax (unaccompanied), then you can use it straight away, exactly as if you were playing your alto sax. The music will come out in a different key, but it will still sound right. But if there is piano accompaniment, you won't be able to use it, because the sax is actually playing in a different key, so it won't go with the piano any more.

my music teacher told me to find a fingering chart made specifically for the soprano sax on the internet. If anyone can explain the difference between the alto and soprano sax fingering charts and/or can tell me where I can find a fingering chart (I checked at a lot of places around here) then it would be appreciated. Thanks!

the soprano is not only used 4 jazz music- look im in a lot if different bands and trust me they are not!
