i just got a new alto flute, and i don't know how to play it, i can play the lowest notes on the regular flute but i know it must play lower than that, are there more fingerings? or do you play ususall high notes lower? plz help!!

The fingering s are all the same but the only thing diff. is that i think when you play the same note on both instruments the octaves are diff. or the note sounds diff. I dont remember.

The Alto flute is Pitched in G so it sounds a Major 3rd lower than the not writen. That is what sounds different to you.

That's the great thing about an alto flute. You will notice that your music for alto flute is in a different key than for the C-pitched instruments. When you finger a C on a regular flute, it plays a C- When you use that same fingering on your alto, it will play the G below the C you are fingering.
So the flute does play lower, but you don't have to do anything other than blow a little bit differently. All the fingerings are the same.
