 Piccolo Questions

Why is it so difficult to play the Highest D on the Piccolo?
I mean the EXTREMELY high D, the one that is above the highest C on the piano.
Are the EASY RESPONSE fingerings for this note? And can the Piccolo go higher?

The one main reason is that a very quick air stream is needed to maintain or even achieve that note, so it will take you a heck of a lot of practice to ever to get it.

It is hard because you are really playing 5th octave Db 8 when you are playing Piccolo. Also that is not a regular note on the piccolo you need to use alternate finguings that makes it very difficult to get the note. The Piccolo is only designed to goto the writen 4 octave C which sounds like 5 octave C instad.

It takes lots of practice and very tight lips. It took me a few years of practice just to get it on flute- and even longer to get it on piccolo. It's tricky, but once you've developed those muscles in your lips...
