 Torke Sax Concerto

Has anyone here played this to performance standard - I looked up some alternative fingerings for top F# and G, but was wondering if anyone had any fingering tips, particularly for the last movement which has lots of high Gs and semiquavers all over the place!

I love this piece - everyone with a soprano saxophone should play it! Once you get to grips with some of the passages they are not that difficult, but I would appreciate any tips!!

Problems I have - going from high E to top harmonic G I am using a front fingering for E (T f-23|--- ; T f123|---) and then T 1-3|1-3 (this is the only one that works) for top G, but due to sore lip, the G doesn't always come out!

I also have a problem with my sax - the high D key opens too far and the D is sharp, but I find that T Eb-2-|--- is a little flat and loses tone - any suggestions? (there are 23627672637635 C-D semiquavers!) I am going to stick a bit of cork on the D key so it does not open to far!

I'm sure it will be better once my lip is not so sore! (I have not played for 3 weeks naughty naughty!)

I have not played through the 2nd movement yet, but has anyone got any suggestions about the bit near the end with all the really high quavers and the counter-melody which is really high and screechy (even on my recording, which is by Gerard McChrystal (i think!))

I hope someone out there can help!
Em

I have been working on this piece for some time, it is my first soprano piece I plan on performing with an orchestra, I am maily an oboist.
Hehe I have just been skiping the parts with high G's.
I cant be much help , but you may want to post on the interntaional saxophone site www.saxontheweb.com . They tend to know alot.
Umm I am actually getting to the point where I can start trying those G's so I have to figure it out for myself.

You may wish to review your mouthpiece/ reed selection . I am using a selmer super session G, with rico jazz 3M, and a vandoren optimum lig plate #1 with a Yamaha Custom sax.
The high notes are as good as they ever were for me, but my embouchure is not solid enough for total cosistency. Just keep practing, and post on that website;)

Your quipment could be the answer.
Make sure your mouthpiece+reed+ligature offers the same resistance.
EX: close opening mouthpiece+hard reed+rovner ligature.
also if you played clarinet before it can mess you up.
And try diff fingering for the G
GL!!!!
